February 23, 2008: Jade Visit!

I told you it was a busy month...

So the weekend after Cam-Van-Dav, Auntie Jade came to visit us. Initially it was a shocker. I've always said that Jade is like the other sister that I never had (and Vince is like the spoiled little brother that I want to beat the snot out of), but I never expected this. Vince had another ridiculously expensive first-class hockey tournament to fly to in Chicago and your grand-uncle Lam was going to go with him. They thought about making it a family trip, but Jade instead decided that she's rather spend her reading week in Vancouver. Our first msn went something like this:

Jade: yeah, so I think that i'm thinking that i think i'll come to vancouver
Daddy: cool. when?
Jade: reading week. dad and vince are going to chicago
Daddy: sounds good. who else is coming?
Jade: i dunno, no one else i guess.
Daddy: (pause) really? your mom?
Jade: My mom says that she'd rather stay home and have the house to herself
Daddy: Chris?
Jade: She's going with the Pandas to Orlando (re: clever disguise for Disney World)
Daddy: Stephen?
Jade: uhh... no. My dad would kill us... and you.
Daddy: Oh yeah. Ha. er... you sure?
Jade: Yeah, I'm sure. I totally want to see you guys.
Daddy: We'll be working, I don't think I can get a lot of time off.
Jade: That's cool (re: clever disguise translated into "i really only want to hangout with sydney and geneva, and visit one of my best friends phillip).
Daddy: Cool. Ok, I'll treat you to a gourmet dinner when you arrive (re: clever disguise for two mama burgers, a teen burger, fries, o-rings, and root beer... mmm... frosty root beer).

Anyone, amazingly awesome that Jade actually came to visit on her own. Wow, I always felt close to jade, but knowing that she would come here on her own is really special. I really hope that the time that she spends with you (sydney) when you're so young brings you guys closer later on. However, we realize that Jade is officially cursed at the YVR airport as yet again, it was a mad scramble to rush her past 200 people in 5 mins to ger her on her plane. Ridiculous (apparently grand-uncle was pissed off at daddy for being last second again). :)

We had a blast Syd. Jade tutored you on the drums in rockband (phillip was a disaster on guitar). Jade had her first authentic greek food meal in north vancouver. She also got a kick out of taking a ton of pictures of and with you, reading you "book-book"s, and just hanging out.

Jade was also our good luck charm, as she babysat you during our open house tours. She's officially the first person in our family to see the new house (more to follow).

Thanks Jade! Miss you. Can't wait to see you soon. We love you.
