Decked out in Canada Gear for "The Game"/ Closing Ceremonies
Auntika had to leave during the Gold Medal Hockey game (epic fail re: scheduling... :( ). But it was great having her around to spend time with the kids. Happy early birthday Auntie!
Our family represented Team Canada well. We decided that we would transport to downtown during the 1st period of the game to avoid traffic. We caught the 3rd period from BC Place as we got in early to see the Closing Ceremonies! It was a great experience to take the kids too, though ultimately it wiped out Logan and he got sick for a week (poor guy - literally Olympic fever).
Sydney and Logan also rode the seabus for the first time. It was nearly traumatic for Sydney though. As we neared the dock to Waterfront, the driver screamed over the intercom system "2-0 Canada!" as Perry scored. He then proceeded to crash the seabus into the dock. Everyone went flying, but given the score everyone laughed it off. It was pretty surreal, it freaked Sydney out as she fell off her chair and i had to catch her.
Anyways, we arrived safe and sound at BC Place to watch Parise tie it up, and Crosby win it in OT. Best sporting moment in the history of Vancouver barnone, and one of the greatest moments in Canadian hockey history. Perfect way to set up the Closing Ceremonies.
