Granville Island with Caden

So... it was a long day the Sunday that Caden visited. dim sum with lucky and rock (party of 11) on saturday followed by swimming and lunch at Dockside on Sunday. Poor guy was pooped.

Sydney mean time was thrust into the drumming spotlight (with daddy) thanks to mommy calling us out as would-be volunteers during a drumming performance on the Island. Sydney loved drumming (very much to her own beat)... daddy's biceps cramped as I am a wuss and Sydney weighs a LOT (and the drumming number was, like, 10 minutes!).

Videos to follow.

Nice self-portrait by mom of her and Logi.

Just another day at home

Logan catching some morning zzz's after a feed, and putting his face into his solids. As I tell Geneva, he's not only surprising quick... he is unpredictable as well... a dangerous two traits at eating time.

Sydney hanging out on her top bunk, and snapping some amusing photos during yoga time.

Logan testing out his sister's shades.

Happy Birthday Mommy

Sydney and Logan woke up mommy nice and early on her birthday (a bit too early) with a card and chocolates.

They each wrapped up a pair of Nike Shoes for mom as well, and have arranged for a one day trip to the Vancouver Aquarium (complete with shirts for themselves). We now have enough ice cream cake in the freezer to last a few months.

Off to LA in a couple of days for the rest of the gift. :)

reality check

i think that my dose of reality and brevity comes when i get to put the kids to sleep. though we have pretty set routines and times:
- Logan: time for bed, we laugh and chat for a bit, say good night to the mountains-the water - the sky - to God - to our ancestors - to all our family and friends that love us
- sydney; geneva reads a book, i'll sleep with sydney and count her stickers, count all the people that love her... she will negotiate me telling her the story of the four bears and I'll tell her that if she sleeps well i'll tell her the story first thing in the morning... which she generally remembers).

... it's amazing how precious and love warming little surprising gestures can be. tonight, sydney was falling asleep after our plane ride home from LA. she was exhausted. as we were getting ready to sleep, she kept poking me in the face and asking "daddy, what are you doing?" :)

as she fell asleep. she grabbed my hand, and with an open palm, she put my hand against the side of her face and wouldn't let go. she is such a sweetheart, and so affectionate (like her pops). it was a little perfect moment, one of the ones when i quickly draw into crystal focus that regardless of what i accomplish in life/ work/ community/ etc./ that the greatest single thing i will ever do is be a parent with geneva and a dad to my "ninny-bear" and my "logi-bear" everyday for the rest of my life i more.

i truly love the three of them more than anything.

S&C - Bouncing on the mattress...

I eat all my meat?

One time, Sydney finished her hammie in a blanket by taking out her ham first and eating it. She then proclaimed "I EAT all my MEAT!!!", to which Caden started laughing at hysterically.

So for the entire trip, she would yell that phrase at Caden to make him laugh.

More shopping/ running time...

The buddies ripping around Please Mum... laughing.

More Logan

Buddies...

Sydney and Caden were super buddies (or wonder twins) this trip... always trying to make each other laugh.
- Sydney would say to Caden after she finished eating "i EAT all my MEEEAATTT!!!" and he would start chuckling
- Caden would be playing with a toy of Sydney's. Syd would then grab is back. Caden would then have this puzzled look on his face and question "share share???"... so funny.
- The two kiddies would run around downstairs or Park Royal and try to catch each other, or play ring around the rosie.

Caden is very affectionate and showered his cousin with hugs and kisses. Sydney (who always has bear hugs for Logan) loved walking around with Caden and laughing with him. They are two peas in a pod... and reminded me so much of Christina and Thien when they were young.

Sammy and Logan... they just like hanging out.

Sydney and Caden at the park

Sydney and Caden walked to the park with Ian and I on Saturday morning. Caden loves the swing set, Sydney liked the climbing wall.

Uncle Ian shows off his athleticism by showing how to navigate the a rope web with ease...
