Visit from Jess

Lots of visitors in for the Olympics. The kids and us managed to say hi to Jessica and go out for a sushi lunch, before she was off to interview at PnG in Toronto. Sydney's eating salmon sashimi now, in addition to udon. Logan took his first crack at eating sushi rolls as well. Awesome! Thanks for visiting Jess! We must improve your baby holding skills.

Vancouver 2010 - Olympic Ice Dancing!

One of the highlights of our lives will be having the opportunity to take Sydney and Logan to an Olympic event! Our first family event was appropriately Ice Dancing (Sydney has been watching Figure Skating for a week with mom - she's hilarious. At first, she would watch and when people would fall Geneva would *gasp*. Sydney would ask, "mom why are you sad?" and mom would reply "because the skater fell." So now everytime Sydney sees a skater fall she says "that skater is sad." :) ).

Incidentally, we tried to get Sydney into speed skating (we had tickets to that). The stars must have aligned because Sydney really didn't like speed skating (wanted to change the channel after 30 seconds to figure skating), and we ended up selling our speed skating tickets for enough to pay off our all of our other Olympic tickets (yes!).

It was a trek with two kids to in tow. We were is Section 27, Row 21... so between the detour to get into the Coliseum AND the many flights of stairs (and dinner and bathroom breaks) it was a big time workout. Sydney was great, she cheered and "ssshh'ed" at the right times. Logan ended up being great too, though I had to take him for a walking break and mommy took him for a sleep-sack-nap. Aside from Canada finished second on the night after skating last, the other highlight was Sydney and Logan checking out the figure skaters in the ground (see pictures of Logan attempting to copy the figure skating girls' super dance posing).

Amazing life experience. A lot of effort but we'd definitely do it again. The people we were surrounded by were fantastic and very welcoming. Hopefully curling will be just as good. Go Canada!

Happy Valentine's!

Dada got home one day late, but spent all of Feb 14th (Chinese/ Vietnamese NY, Valentine's and Day 3 of the Olympics) shopping Dallas' finest looking for presents for Geneva and the kids. It was the highlight of my trip, shopping for the three of them.

Sydney loves her skirt and shirt, but prefers to take Mommy's Victoria Secret gifts, dress up and run around like an amazon woman. Likewise, Logan's pants were practical, but he prefers hiding his toys in mommy's Coach box. :) So happy to me home.

Celebrating the Year of the Tiger

Chuc Mung Nam Moi & Kong Hei Fat Choy. Geneva and the kids celebrated the new year with Popo and Adoodoo. With red Canada shirts and Lion masks, it looks like they had a blast.

A week away

I never want to go on a week long business trip again. San Francisco for sales meetings and then off to Dallas for my first NBA All-Star. All-Star was a different experience.
- Had Magic Johnson wave to me when he and I were the only people in the hallway prior to the Legends Brunch, but I was on the phone with my mom so i have no proof. Argh.
- Chatted it up in the Men's room with Bill Russell (that's a bit of a stretch).
- Watched Nate Robinson wins another dunk competition robbing a Raptor - at least Steve Nash won the skills comp.
- Close to courtside to see DWade, LBJ and Dirk light it up.
- Basically steps away from the stage at the half time show to see Usher, Shakira and one of my favourites (Alicia Keys) perform.

Interesting experience, but I missed Geve and the kids. Not sure if I would do this entire weekend again without Geve at least. Hopefully we can take the kids one day.
